    The E-Bay Solution

Well...as most of you probably know, our church has been in the news lately. There was a huge split about a year ago and the group that left is now sueing us for the rights to the building. This week was the trial and was a pretty important week. Hopefully we'll know within a month or so. It's in God's hands! We're trusting Him to make the right decision and use this difficult situation to somehow bring glory and honor to His name and His church.

Anyways, Molly at the supper table tonight had the perfect solution: "instead of everyone fighting for the church we should just have an auction for it like E-Bay"!

I'm afraid it's a little more complicated that that.... lol!

That's really the beauty of children; their simplicity. Their little minds can't comprehend hate, bitterness, and greed. Their lives are lived in faith and trust, not just in God, but in their parents and everyone else that's "bigger" than they are. No wonder Christ said in Matthew 18:1, "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter in the kingdom of heaven". God calls us to have that same faith and trust in Him alone. He doesn't call us to do great things for Him; He calls us because He wants our love. How complicated is that?

Why do we worry? Why do we stress about figuring things out on our own? We serve a God in control of the cosmos. We serve a Savior who was willing to give everything - even His life - for ours. We serve a Spirit who is actively working out God's will for God's best and God's glory through every circumstance in life. Praise to our Holy God!

  • I got a car! Whoo Hoo! Dad & I just brought it home yesterday from Detroit.

Isn't God's timing amazing? I come from a family backgroud of avid 'car' people. You know. The people that can tell from across the parking lot the name, year, and everything else there is to know. My cousin is a race car driver. Enough said.
Anyways, they were a bit concerned when I turned the 'magical 16' and didn't buy a car. I ended up getting the 'mammoth'. Our 12-passenger van.

Until two weeks ago. I've been driving a bit more now with Bible Studies, students, and college. Mom & Dad gave me notice last week that maybe I should start looking. Sure enough, less than a week later, we found one. Only it was so cheap, we couldn't believe at first there wasn't anything wrong with it. (it was almost half of what it's worth)
Last night I drove home the exact one I was looking for. Even down to the color. (it's an `02 Saturn ) I'll try to get some pics soon ...

Yesu Acha Hai! This isn't the first time He's brought just the right 'lil something or other into my life just when I needed it.
What a comfort to serve a Heavenly Father that cares about even the small details of my life.
Why in the world do Christians worry?

p.s. Got a phone call from one of the deacons at church tonight asking all about it. I think he's more anxious to see it than I was. Gotta laugh. This is country west MI, folks! lol

Has it really been a whole month since I last updated?! I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving break!

Mom and the two older girls are gone for the week-end so I get to play 'mommy' to the four younger ones.  It's been going really well; the house is clean, the boys are sleeping, and the Ellie and Molly even got their school work done!
Sunday's going to be busy w/out them though. I don't know HOW Drew talked me into doing special music...grrr!! Isn't Sunday supposed to be a day of rest? Why do we have to make the most important day of the week so busy with non-important things that we never get a chance to catch our breath?

I VOTED!!! Yaaaay, for the first time on Tuesday. I thought it was kinda neat when I look up and who should be voting next to me but my grandpa! I didn't know he was there. And yes, Faith, Jim, and Jose at the GOP office kept me busy. Anyone else interested in volunteering in '08?  I did everything from literature distrubution to working the front desk at the office. Did I ever learn alot about politics.

Funny story: On Tuesday, Sarah showed up for lessons and I asked if her parents had voted yet.
She says: "Yes. But my mom said I can't tell anyone who she voted for. It's a secret."
    *big pause*
She looks at me again: "You have a sign in your yard? Yeeaah..." (while nodding very big)
    LOL! The little stinker!

Question: Is it a sin for a Christian NOT to vote? God calls each of us to influence our world and to spread His truth wherever we are. This would certainly mean He would call us to influence our government. Thoughts anyone?

Please pray....for a little girl named Katie. Her parents do not go to church but she has been coming to GROW nights with her grandma. I had her in my class for VBS this summer. She's been asking me some pretty deep questions lately about salvation and I'm praying that the teaching and fellowship she has at our church will take some root. Also that I would know the best way to answer...
